How to Choose Your One Piece Katana

Start with the sword. Zoro’s current trio—Wadō Ichimonji in a white scabbard, Sandai Kitetsu in a red scabbard, and Enma in a purple scabbard—is available in steel, a light-up version, and as a mini-katana; his older swords, Shūsui and Yubashiri, are also available. The swords of Trafalgar Law, Mihawk, and Luffy round out a display dedicated to the crew and its rivals.

Next, choose the version. The Metal One Piece katana, often made of two-tone 440 steel, have a lacquered wooden sheath and measure about 1 m. The One Piece Wooden Katanas, with two-tone bamboo blades, weigh about 550 g and are easy to carry for cosplay. The luminous katanas combine a metal blade and an ABS component illuminated by LEDs. The mini katanas are 45 cm long.

💡 Did you know?

In One Piece, only two swords are confirmed to be «black swords» (kokutō)—swords that have permanently turned black, an exceptional phenomenon in the series: Yoru, Dracule Mihawk’s sword, ranked among the 12 Supreme-Grade Swords, and Shūsui, Ryūma’s former sword that Zoro wielded before returning it to the Land of Wano.

The Must-Haves of the Collection

Some pieces stand out from the standard format and are showstoppers in their own right: the Dracule Mihawk's Yoru Sword, with its 90-cm blade, and the Trafalgar Law's Kikoku, 143 cm version. As for Zoro, the Shūsui katana and its 70-cm blade is reminiscent of Ryūma's sword, while Enma comes with a black sheath or purple.

📜 A Moment in History

The Kitetsu swords in this series are most likely inspired by a real-life swordsmith: Nagasone Kotetsu (c. 1597–1678), a former armorer who settled in Edo around the age of 50 to forge swords. His blades were so highly sought after that they were copied en masse; he is even credited with saying this upon seeing a counterfeit: «The blade is mine, but not the signature.» « The famous »Kotetsu” belonging to Kondō Isami, leader of the Shinsengumi, was actually the work of another swordsmith, Minamoto Kiyomaro.

Displaying and Caring for Your Katana

A katana looks its best on a presentation support or a wall mount suitable for the length of its sheath, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. For steel blades, wipe off fingerprints with a soft cloth, then apply a thin layer of oil, such as Ballistol all-purpose oil, from time to time. Our Katana Care Guide explains each step in detail.

⭐ Réplique Manga Ciné's Tip

For your first One Piece display, start with just one sword from Zoro’s trio, then add to it over time: the three scabbards—white, red, and purple—really come into their own when displayed side by side. Display them on a suitable stand rather than lying flat, and choose the illuminated versions if your display case is in a dark room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which of Zoro's swords are included in the collection?

The current trio—Zoro, Wadō Ichimonji, Sandai Kitetsu, and Enma—is available in steel, in a light-up version, and as a mini-katana; Wadō Ichimonji and Sandai Kitetsu are also available in wood. His older swords, Shūsui and Yubashiri, are also available. The product descriptions specify the material, length, and weight of each model.

How long is a One Piece katana?

Most full-size katanas range in total length from 1 m to 1.08 m. Some models are larger: Trafalgar Law’s katana comes in a 143-cm version, and Mihawk’s Yoru sword has a 90-cm blade. Mini-katanas measure about 45 cm, with a blade length of 27 to 28 cm.

One Piece Katana: Wood or Steel? Which Should You Choose?

The steel katana, which is heavier, looks the most authentic on display. The wooden katana, with a bamboo blade, weighs about 550 g and is easier to carry for cosplay. Both feature the same sheath color as their respective swords.

Do the One Piece light-up katanas come with batteries?

No. They run on two AAA batteries (not included), which you insert by removing the tip of the handle. A discreet button turns on the LEDs, which highlight the blade in a display case or a dark room. Remove the batteries if you’re storing the replica for an extended period.

Can you buy and carry a One Piece katana?

Metal replicas are restricted to adults. When transporting your katana, always keep it in its box or in a sheath; never carry it by hand on the street. At trade shows and conventions, metal replicas are usually prohibited, and sometimes even wooden ones: replicas are generally only allowed for cosplayers during parades.
