The Bleach katanas are replicas of the zanpakuto wielded by Ichigo, Rukia, Byakuya, Tōshirō Hitsugaya, Kenpachi, and the Arrancar from the series: Zangetsu, Tensa Zangetsu, Sode no Shirayuki, Senbonzakura, and Hyōrinmaru. They are available in steel, wood, or as mini-katanas—collectible replicas for decoration, display, and cosplay.

Start with the material. Most of the zanpakuto in the collection have blades made of 440 stainless steel, though some are made of carbon steel, such as those belonging to Byakuya and Hirako Shinji: they range from 1 m to 1.10 m in length and weigh between 920 g and 1.1 kg. The Ichigo's wooden katana and Byakuya's, with its bamboo blade, are much lighter. The Ichigo's tanto, a 45-cm mini-katana, comes with its own small stand.
Next, choose the character and, for Ichigo's sword, its form. The Zangetsu's latest Shikai has a blade 8.5 cm wide, with an opening in the center; the Double Zangetsu He pairs it with the 59-cm dagger. His Bankai, Tensa Zangetsu, is a katana with a black blade and a chain: the 104-cm version is the simplest to describe; the V2 and V3 versions add a long chain or a serrated blade.
Sode no Shirayuki, Rukia’s zanpakuto, means «white snow blade.» With its entirely white blade, it is considered the most beautiful zanpakuto in the Soul Society. Tite Kubo has said he loves it very much, and readers ranked it second in the series’ zanpakuto popularity poll.
Rukia's Katana can be recognized by its white-lacquered sheath and its long white satin ribbon. The Byakuya's Senbonzakura combines a white sheath with a lavender braid. Hyōrinmaru, the Tōshirō Hitsugaya's katana, has a green shoulder strap with a medallion. Kenpachi's Nozarashi, with its chipped blade and sheath wrapped in bandages, is available in 110 cm or 143-cm version. On the Arrancar side, Ulquiorra's Murciélago and Grimmjow's Pantera round out the display.
Kenpachi’s Nozarashi is the size of a nodachi, or ōdachi—the Japanese «great sword»—with a blade measuring over 90 cm. Too long to carry by one’s side, it was carried on the back or by a servant. During the Edo period, it had become nothing more than an offering to Shinto shrines: one of the longest, forged in 1446, measures 3.77 m and is housed at the Yahiko Shrine.
A Bleach katana stands out on a presentation support or a wall mount suitable for the length of its scabbard, protected from moisture and direct sunlight; the Sajin Tengen comes with its own wooden stand. On steel—especially carbon steel—avoid touching the blade: the acidity from your fingers will tarnish the metal. Wipe away any marks with a soft, lightly oiled cloth, such as one treated with Ballistol all-purpose oil. Our Katana Care Guide explains each step in detail.
For your first Bleach prop, we recommend the 104 cm Tensa Zangetsu: it’s Ichigo’s sword, instantly recognizable, in a size that’s easy to display. Versions measuring 140 cm or longer, which are true to the manga’s proportions, require a wall large enough to accommodate them: be sure to check the total length on the product page before ordering. For cosplay, opt for the wooden version, which is nearly twice as light.
Ichigo’s zanpakuto exists in several forms: the Zangetsu in its Shikai form with a wide blade, on its own, as a dagger, or as the Double Zangetsu; his Bankai’s Tensa Zangetsu in 104 cm, 142 cm, V2, and V3 versions; and his Hollow’s Zangetsu, with a white guard and sheath. There is also a wooden version and a tanto.
The steel katana, weighing between 920 g and 1.1 kg, looks the most authentic on display. The wooden katana, with a bamboo blade, weighs about 550 g and is easier to carry for cosplay. Ichigo’s tanto—a 45-cm mini-katana weighing 260 g—is perfect for display on a desk or shelf.
Most Bleach katanas range in total length from 1 m to 1.10 m. Some are scaled to match the manga: Ichigo’s Tensa Zangetsu V3 and Bankai measure 140 and 142 cm, respectively, while Kenpachi’s Nozarashi measures 143 cm. The Zangetsu dagger measures 59 cm, and the tanto measures 45 cm. Each product page lists the dimensions.
Metal replicas are restricted to adults. When transporting your katana, always keep it in its box or in a sheath; never carry it by hand on the street. At trade shows and conventions, metal replicas are usually prohibited, and sometimes even wooden ones: replicas are generally only allowed for cosplayers during parades.
