How to Choose Your Denix Replica

Each Denix replica is based on the original firearm, which is studied using photographs, blueprints, and historical documents. The zamak is then injection-molded under high pressure into metal molds, after which it is polished, treated, and assembled—in many models—with a solid-wood stock or with ABS grips.

First choose the era, then the finish. The weathered and aged series mimics the effects of time on the M1 Garand, the Thompson, or the Luger P08; the Luger is also available in a nickel-plated version, the Walther PPK and the AK-47 in gold-plated versions, and the Peacemaker in a marbled finish. Next, check the mechanism: most replicas can be cocked and fired, and many have a removable magazine. Finally, measure the size: from 13.5 cm for the USA Derringer pistol to 148.5 cm for the Kentucky rifle; the MG34, which is 122 cm long, weighs about 7 kg.

💡 Did you know?

Before watches, there was jewelry. The founders of Denix, José Carretero Febrer and Sebastián Llull Salom, came from the costume jewelry industry, a traditional sector in Menorca. Armed with this experience, they launched their business in Ciutadella in 1967; more than half a century later, the brand is still based there.

The main Denix families in the collection

For centuries past, antique pistols feature flintlock and percussion-cap models from the 17th to the 19th century, such as the Austrian blunderbuss made of aged brass, whose flared barrel is dated 1760. The First Empire has its own selection, replicas of weapons from the First Empire, with the double-barreled Napoleon pistol, with a solid-wood stock engraved with a crown. The Far West series is the largest family: Western-style weapons collect Colt revolvers, Winchester rifles, and accessories.

For the 20th century, Denix reproductions from World War II range from the Luger P08 to the MG34, the most imposing, with its solid-wood stock, adjustable bipod, and sling. As for the movies, modern pistols include the Beretta 92F, Martin Riggs's gun in Lethal Weapon, and Agent Smith's Desert Eagle in The Matrix. Modern Rifles These include, among others, the AK-47 and the 1967 M16A1.

📜 A Moment in History

In 1978, Denix became a corporation and moved its production to a new factory in the Ciutadella industrial park. Years of growth and diversification followed. With a focus on exports, the Menorca-based company is now present in more than 40 countries, with a catalog of over 300 products. Its production process includes the casting of injection-molded parts, machining, electroplating, assembly, and packaging.

Displaying and Caring for Your Denix Replicas

Denix also manufactures display cases for its replicas. The shield-shaped wall mount Holds pistols, rifles, or swords: two metal parts, depth-adjustable and secured with two screws (included); a wooden stand holds a revolver on a shelf. Packs of six decorative bullets complete the Thompson, MP40, or AK-47. For maintenance, keep your replicas away from sunlight and moisture; dust them off with a soft, dry cloth—without using any abrasive products or solvents—and handle them with gloves to avoid fingerprints.

⭐ Réplique Manga Ciné's Tip

For a harmonious display, stick to the same finish for each era: the patinated and aged series—featuring the M1 Garand, the Thompson, and the Mauser K98—gives a World War II collection a very cohesive, period-appropriate look. Reserve the gold-plated or nickel-plated versions for the pieces you want to highlight, displayed alone on their stands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Denix replicas fire?

No. Denix replicas do not have the mechanisms necessary for firing and cannot be converted into firearms: they are incapable of firing. Many can be cocked and struck, and some have a removable magazine or a sliding bolt, which enhances their realism on display.

Where are Denix replicas manufactured?

In Ciutadella, Menorca, in the Balearic Islands, Spain, where the company began operations in 1967. More than half a century later, the brand is still based there. Most people associate zamak parts with a solid wood stock or ABS grips.

What is the difference between a Denix replica and a Kolser replica?

Replicas from both brands are not suitable for firing. Denix covers a wide range of historical periods, from flintlock firearms to modern rifles, with parts made of zamak and a stock made of solid wood or ABS. Kolser replicas, made of zamak, steel, or brass, feature a working mechanism and are often packaged in a decorative box.

Can you buy and transport a Denix replica?

Metal replicas are restricted to adults. When transporting your replica, always keep it in its box or in a carrying case; never let it be visible on the street. At trade shows and conventions, metal props are usually prohibited, and sometimes even wooden ones: props are generally allowed only for cosplayers during parades.
