The Game of Thrones swords are replicas of the blades of the great houses of Westeros: Jon Snow’s Greatclaw, Arya’s Needle, Ned Stark’s Ice, Widow’s Lament, and Heartsbane—made of steel or resin—and include daggers and wall mounts. These are collectible replicas for decoration, display, and cosplay.

Start with the character and their home. In the Stark family, Jon Snow's sword, Longclaw, continues the description of the novel, featuring a Damascus-style blade and a wolf-head pommel; Arya's sword, "Needle" comes with a metal sheath, and Ned Stark's sword as depicted in the TV series reaches 130 cm. On the Lannister side, "Widow's Lament," Joffrey's sword, stands alongside those of Jaime and Tyrion.
Next, check the material and version. Most blades are made of stainless steel, weighing 1.4 to 2.5 kg and measuring 1 m to 1.30 m in total length; those of the Night King and the White Walkers, made of clear acrylic resin, are much lighter. Some product listings specify whether the sword is based on the TV series or George R.R. Martin’s novels. The Targaryen swords of Rhaenyra, Aegon, and Viserys are also grouped together in the category House of the Dragon.
In George R.R. Martin’s novel, Greatclaw is the Valyrian steel sword of House Mormont, and its pommel was originally shaped like a bear’s head. When fire damaged the hilt, Jeor Mormont had it remade for Jon Snow: the new pommel became a wolf’s head carved from light-colored stone—a nod to the Starks—with garnet shards for eyes. It is this red-eyed wolf that is featured on the Damascus-style replica.
For Jon Snow, Greatclaw is also available as a dagger, with an ABS sheath and a gift box: The Grand-Griffe dagger in its standard version measures about 30 cm, The Longclaw dagger as depicted in the novel is more than 35 cm. The "Widow's Tears" Sword can be recognized by its pommel set with resin stones resembling rubies and diamonds, Heartsbane, the sword of House Tarly, with its wall plaque decorated with an archer. For a more unusual storefront, the Night King's blade It resembles ice, and Drogo's sickle is modeled after the Dothraki arakh.
According to George R.R. Martin, the closest real-world equivalent of Valyrian steel is Damascus steel. These blades were forged in the Middle East from wootz steel ingots sourced from southern India, and their rippling patterns evoked flowing water. Production ceased around 1900, and the original method was lost—just like the secret of Valyria in the saga. Most of today’s so-called «Damascus» blades are made by welding and folding multiple layers of steel together: it is this pattern that the Damascus effect from Greatclaw imitates.
Most full-size swords come with a wooden plaque or wall mount, often in the house colors. For a model that comes in a scabbard, such as Arya’s Needle or Viserys’s sword, be sure to a wooden wall plaque, suitable for all models, or the Targaryen wall mount the three-headed dragon. Avoid moisture, direct sunlight, and touching the steel blades with your fingers: the acidity of your skin leaves marks, which should be wiped off with a cloth dampened with a small amount of oil, such as Ballistol all-purpose oil. Collectibles and merchandise from the saga are all gathered in the category Game of Thrones.
For your first Game of Thrones sword, choose the one belonging to the character who left the biggest impression on you, then arrange your display by house: Jon Snow’s sword and dagger, or the Lannister blades side by side. Take the weight—up to 2.5 kg—into account when choosing mounts, and measure the space: the largest ones are 1.30 m long.
The Grand-Griffe sword, known as Longclaw in English, measures 110 cm with an 83-cm blade and weighs 1.56 kg. It features a Damascus-style stainless steel blade, a wolf-head pommel with red eyes, and a wooden wall mount adorned with the Stark emblem. For a more compact size, choose one of the two Grand-Griffe daggers.
Both daggers are modeled after Jon Snow’s sword: stainless steel blade, resin wolf-head pommel, ABS sheath, and gift box. The TV series version replicates the sword seen on screen, while the novel version is based on the one in the books, featuring a different pommel. For a desk, a set includes five Stark steel letter openers, ranging from 20 to 22 cm.
In the series, Tywin Lannister has Ice, the Stark family heirloom sword, remelted to forge two swords: Widow’s Lament, given to King Joffrey as a wedding gift, and Faithful, which Jaime entrusts to Brienne of Tarth. This allows you to display Ned Stark’s sword and Widow’s Sorrow—forged from its steel—together in the same display case.
Metal replicas are restricted to adults. When transporting your sword, always keep it in its box or in a sheath; never carry it by hand on the street. At trade shows and conventions, metal is usually prohibited, and sometimes even wood: replicas are generally only allowed there for cosplayers during parades.
