Origin Sword Andúril de luxe: La Reforgée de Narsil
Andúril was originally Narsil, the sword of King Elendil, the famous king of Númenor. During the battle against Sauron at the foot of Mount Doom. Elendil used Narsil to confront the Dark Lord, but it broke in battle. His son, Isildur, then uses a fragment of the broken blade to cut the One Ring from Sauron's hand, causing the latter's first fall.
Later, Narsil, reforged by the Elves of Rivendell on Elrond's orders for Aragorn, Isildur's heir and the last descendant of the royal line. This new blade is renamed Andúril, meaning Flame of the West in Sindarin, the language of the Elves. Andúril's light thus becomes the symbol of the redemption of Isildur's line and the fight against darkness.
The Andúril sword is thus essential to the symbolism of The Lord of the Rings: a weapon born of the ashes of a bygone age, reforged to restore light to a darkened world.
